A Year of Inspiration: What 2025 Meant for Custom Homebuilding
If there’s one thing we’ve learned this year, it’s that a home is so much more than square footage and finishes; it’s the setting where life unfolds! In 2025, Vitale Real Estate & New Homes had the privilege of helping families design spaces that reflect not just how they live today, but how they dream of living tomorrow.
This year’s key turnovers weren’t simply “completed projects.” They were personal milestones, first chapters, upgrades, downsizes, and brand-new ways of living. And each one began with the same foundation: integrity, innovation, and a commitment to comfortable luxury living.
At VRE, a custom home should feel effortless, even though we know the behind-the-scenes journey is anything but. That’s why our entire process is built around clarity, communication, and intentional design, ensuring every homeowner feels informed and supported from the very beginning!
Why More Buyers Are Choosing to Build vs. Buy
2025 revealed a powerful trend: people want homes that reflect their lifestyle, not the previous owner’s.
With limited inventory and rising demand for personalized spaces, more families turned to custom builds, not for luxury’s sake, but for intentionality:
- More flexible living spaces
- Better natural light and views
- Custom kitchens tailored to how they cook and gather
- Home offices that actually work
- Lower maintenance, higher comfort
- Energy-efficient materials and mechanicals
- The emotional satisfaction of creating something that feels uniquely “theirs”
A custom home isn’t just a structure — it’s a feeling. And this year’s homeowners understood that deeply, and so did we!
Meet the Homeowners Who Made 2025 Unforgettable
Every home we turned over this year came with a story that reminded us why we do what we do. These were families who dreamed big, trusted the process, and let us walk alongside them as their ideas became real walls, windows, and warm spaces made just for them.
Let’s take a stroll through the homes and the hearts behind them.

Dave and Annette: A Five Acre Forest Retreat in Lake Orion
How Their Home Journey Began
Dave and Annette came to us with a clear vision. They loved the Stratford II model, but they wanted something that felt more personal for the way they live today.
They did not need a large number of bedrooms. What they wanted was space that felt intentional and calming.
Custom Layout Designed for Real Life
We worked closely with them to design a reimagined 2500 square foot ranch that included:
- A spacious primary suite
- One guest room
- A dedicated home office
- A fully finished basement for additional living space
The goal was simple. Less unused space and more comfort.
The Beauty of Their Five Acre Property
This is where their story becomes truly special.
Dave and Annette first purchased a 2.5 acre lot in The Pinery of Lake Orion. Then they took things a step further and bought the neighboring property too.
They created a private five acre oasis surrounded by Michigan woods and peaceful natural views.
The home sits tucked deep into the trees. Mornings feel slow and quiet, and it is easy to imagine sunlight drifting across the forest floor while wildlife moves through the yard.
A Fun Custom Detail They Loved
One of our favorite moments was when Annette mentioned how amazing a light up kitchen island would be. We loved the idea, and of course we made it happen. If you can dream it, we can build it.

Kumar & Rani: A Forever Home in Troy
A Dream Twenty Years in the Making
Kumar and Rani first lived in a Vitale Real Estate built condo back in 2005. It served them well, but as time went on, they began to imagine something more permanent. A place they could call their forever home.
When they bought land in Troy, they met with a few builders but did not feel the connection they wanted. The designs felt standard, and nothing sparked excitement.
Finding the Right Fit at Vitale Real Estate
Everything changed when they met Leah, our Sales Executive.
She listened. Really listened.
Then she brought in Rosalinda, our architectural designer, and together they created a plan that felt authentic to who Kumar and Rani are.
Designing a Home That Feels Like Them
Tonya, one of our interior design partners, helped them personalize every room. Every tile, finish, and feature was chosen with intention.
Their custom home includes:
- Cathedral ceilings
- Four bedrooms
- Four bathrooms
- A 3.5 car garage
- A flexible bonus room for the future
Why This Build Was So Meaningful
Their kids now have space to come home from college. Family gatherings can unfold naturally. Quiet evenings feel peaceful and cozy.
When we handed them their keys, it felt like witnessing the beginning of a new chapter.

Why They Decided to Build
Ron and Laura were ready for more space. Their previous home sat on a standard quarter acre lot, and they longed for open land and freedom.
With Leah’s guidance, they found a beautiful 4+ acre property in Macomb Township that felt like a fresh start.
Designing Their Forever Space
They chose a custom Stratford II ranch that gave them the comfort, privacy, and layout they wanted, and they went all in on stunning upgrades!

Today, they live on more than four acres of peaceful open land. Everything they hoped for is now part of their everyday life.

The Homebuilding Journey: From Groundbreaking to Key Turnover
Here’s What It Really Looks Like Behind the Scenes
Every home we build travels through a thoughtful, proven process — one that balances craftsmanship, efficiency, creativity, and transparency. While each family’s needs are unique, the steps remain consistent:
Phase 1–2: Groundbreaking, Foundation, Framing, & Windows (3-4 Months)
Where excitement meets reality. The land takes shape, the footprint appears, and homeowners finally see their vision rise from the ground.
Phase 3–4: Rough Mechanical Work, Roof, Masonry & Drywall (4–5 Months)
This is the “messy middle,” where patience pays off. Behind-the-walls infrastructure is installed, and the exterior begins to resemble a real home.
Phase 5–6: Tile, Trim, Cabinetry, Paint & Flooring (2–3 Months)
The personality stage; where selections turn into spaces, and homes start reflecting the people who will live in them.
Phase 7–8: Final Mechanical Work & Inspections (2 Months)
Details are refined, systems are tested, and everything is reviewed with care and precision.
Phase 9: Quality Review (1 Month)
Our team walks every inch, ensuring the home meets our highest standards before keys ever change hands.
Phase 10: Key Turnover Day 🎉 (1 Day)
The best day of all! It’s the moment homeowners step into their dream home for the very first time.
Whether it’s a cozy ranch in the woods, a lakeside retreat, or a spacious forever home designed for hosting, every build is a collaboration grounded in trust, craftsmanship, and innovation.
The Vitale Philosophy: Where Integrity Meets Innovation
“Where Integrity Meets Innovation in Comfortable Luxury Living.” This isn’t a tagline; it’s how every decision is made.
We build fewer homes each year so we can build them better. We listen closely so the final product reflects your personality and your priorities. And throughout the process, we lead with honesty, clarity, and craftsmanship rooted in 30 years of experience.
Because building a home should feel exciting, not overwhelming. It should feel collaborative, not transactional. And it should always end with you stepping into a space that feels like an extension of your lifestyle.
